Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (hereinafter "Terms") define the terms and conditions of use of the Bukku mobile application (hereinafter "the Application"), as well as the rights and obligations of the user (hereinafter "the User" or "you") and the publisher (hereinafter "Bukku", "we" or "our").

Bukku is a free mobile reading tracker application allowing users to organize their personal library, track their reading, get personalized recommendations and view reading statistics.

Using the Application implies full acceptance of these Terms. If you do not accept these conditions, please do not use the Application.

2.1 Access conditions

The Application is available for free on Android devices via the Google Play Store. Its use requires:

• A compatible Android device
• An Internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
• Creating a user account

The Application is available in French, English and Spanish.

2.2 Minimum age

Use of the Application is restricted to persons aged at least 16 years. If you are a minor over 16, you declare that you have obtained permission from your parents or legal guardians to use the Application.

3.1 Registration

To use the Application, you must create an account by providing:

• A valid email address
• A username (pseudonym)
• A secure password
• Your favorite literary genres (optional but recommended)

3.2 Account responsibility

You are responsible for the confidentiality of your login credentials and all activity under your account.

3.3 Accuracy of information

You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

Bukku offers the following features:

• Home: personalized dashboard with current reads, recommendations and monthly progress
• Discover: book search via the ISBNdb API (over 108 million titles, by title, author or ISBN)
• My Library: book management with 4 categories (To Read, Reading, Read, Abandoned), star ratings
• Statistics: reading data visualization (books read, pages, average rating, favorite genres) and image export
• Profile & Social: customization (avatar, bio, color theme, badges, titles, frames), public or private profile, follow system between readers, activity feed, profile sharing via web link
• Recommendations: personalized suggestions based on your favorite genres and history
• Gamification: badges, honorary titles and frames to unlock based on your actions in the app
• Ambassador Program: ambassador program offering exclusive perks (badge, early access, customizations, visibility) to selected readers who represent the Bukku community

5.1 Free model

Bukku is a completely free application. No in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no credit card required.

5.2 Advertising

The Application is funded by advertising via Google AdMob: banner ads, interstitial ads and rewarded videos. Two color themes (purple and blue) are free. Six additional colors can be unlocked by watching a short ad.

5.3 Marketing communications

By creating an account, your email may be added to our mailing list (via Brevo). You can unsubscribe at any time.

5.4 Web analytics

The website bukku.app uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to measure website traffic and improve user experience. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymized browsing data. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

6.1 Authorized use

The Application is intended for personal, non-commercial use. You are authorized to:

• Use the Application to manage your personal library
• Search and add books to your collection
• Share your reading statistics via the export function
• Follow other users and view their public profiles
• Share your profile via the public web link

6.2 Prohibited uses

The following are strictly prohibited:

• Attempting to bypass, disable or interfere with the Application's security features
• Using robots, scrapers or any automated means to access the Application
• Attempting to decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer the Application
• Using the Application for illegal or unauthorized purposes
• Impersonating another person
• Sending spam, malicious or abusive content
• Circumventing or manipulating the advertising system (fraudulent clicks, etc.)
• Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions
• Reselling, renting or commercially exploiting the Application or its content
• Harassing, intimidating or abusively following other users
• Using the biography or public profile to spread advertising, political or offensive content

7.1 Avatar

By uploading a profile picture (avatar), you declare that you hold the necessary rights to this image and warrant that it does not contain any illegal, offensive, pornographic, violent content or content infringing on third-party rights.

Any avatar containing pornographic, child exploitation, racist, discriminatory content, glorifying terrorism or inciting hatred will result in the immediate and permanent deletion of the account without notice. Bukku reserves the right to report such content to the relevant authorities.

7.2 Biography

The biography (bio) is a free text visible on your profile. You agree not to include illegal, offensive, discriminatory, unauthorized advertising content, or content infringing on third-party rights.

Any biography containing racist, homophobic, sexist, hateful or violent speech, or any illegal content will result in the removal of the bio and may lead to account suspension or deletion.

7.3 Public profile

When your profile is public, the following information is visible to other users and on the web via your profile link: username, avatar, bio, reading statistics, badges, books read. You can switch your profile to private at any time from the Application settings.

7.4 License

By publishing content (avatar, bio), you grant Bukku a non-exclusive, worldwide, free license for the duration of your use of the Application, to display this content as part of the Application's operation, including on the public web profile page.

The Application, its source code, design, texts, graphics and features are the exclusive property of Bukku, protected by copyright law.

Book data comes from the ISBNdb API and remains the property of their respective holders.

You can delete your account at any time in the Application (My account → Delete account). Deletion is irreversible.

Bukku strives to maintain the Application accessible 24/7. However, access may be temporarily interrupted for maintenance or updates.

The Application is provided "as is" and "as available". Bukku does not guarantee that the Application will be free of errors or interruptions.

Bukku reserves the right to suspend or delete your account in case of violation of these Terms.

The processing of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy.

Bukku reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by French law. In case of dispute, the parties agree to seek an amicable solution first. French courts shall have sole jurisdiction.

• Entirety: these Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Bukku.
• Severability: if any clause is declared null, the remaining clauses shall remain in force.
• Waiver: failure to exercise a right does not constitute a waiver of that right.
